How Would I Offer This to My Clients?
How would I offer this to my clients?
You can work it into the conversations you're already having with buyers and sellers.
You might bring it up during a buyer or listing presentation, while going over a contract, or when a legal question comes up.
You're not giving legal advice. You're letting your client know there's a service that gives them access to an attorney.
What would I say?
You could say something like:
“I'm not an attorney, but I can show you a way to talk to one.”
Or you could say:
“I let my clients know about a service that gives them access to a law firm when they need legal help.”
When would I bring it up?
Before the sale. During the transaction. After the closing.
You can also tell past clients about it.
What would my clients use it for?
Think about the legal questions that can come up when someone buys, sells, or owns a home.
Contracts. Boundary disputes. Liens. Problems with contractors. Warranties. Insurance problems. Landlord and tenant issues.
They can also use the service when other legal questions come up in their lives.
Do I have to know a lot about the law?
No.
When a client asks you a legal question, you don't have to try to answer it.
You can point them to an attorney who can.
What about E&O insurance?
There is a difference between E&O insurance and LegalShield.
E&O insurance helps protect you if someone makes a claim against you because of your work as a real estate agent.
LegalShield gives you an affordable way to talk to an attorney when you need legal help.
They can work together, but one does not replace the other.
Will this take me away from real estate?
It doesn't have to.
You're already talking with buyers, sellers, and past clients.
You're already telling people about lenders, inspectors, title companies, contractors, and other services.
This is one more thing you can offer your clients.
Is this going to give me more work to do?
Not necessarily.
You don't have to know everything about the service or give people a long presentation.
You can show them where they can learn more and let them decide for themselves.
Am I allowed to offer LegalShield to my clients?
Yes.
Some real estate agents may wonder about this because there are rules about getting paid when you recommend certain services to your clients.
LegalShield is different from a lender or title company.
If your client signs up for LegalShield, you can get paid.
Let your client know that you may make money if they sign up.
If you have questions about the rules where you work, ask your broker.
How do I make money?
When someone you refer signs up for LegalShield, you can get paid.
Think about Netflix, Apple, and Planet Fitness. They all use subscriptions.
LegalShield works the same way. As long as someone keeps their plan, you can continue getting paid.
Is that how the money keeps coming in after the closing?
Yes.
The closing may be over, but your client can keep LegalShield.
As long as they keep it, you can continue getting paid.
Could this help me stand out from other agents?
It could.
You're giving your clients another resource they can use before, during, and after the sale.
When a legal question comes up, they have access to legal help.
Could this bring me more real estate business?
It could.
You may meet people through LegalShield you wouldn't have met otherwise.
They may need a real estate agent now or sometime in the future.
Do I have to offer it to everybody?
No.
You decide who you want to tell about it and when you want to bring it up.
What happens when someone wants to know more?
You don't have to explain everything yourself.
You'll have a page you can send them with two short, professionally made videos that explain LegalShield.
They can watch the videos and decide for themselves.
You'll also have a training page that shows you specifically how to offer LegalShield to your clients.

What else do I need to know?
There are a few more things to know.
